Flip That Cell 🏠

Data formatting got you down?  Want to renovate your table for a fresh new layout?  You’re in luck - there’s an Excel function for that!

In our example gif above, we’ve got Q1 revenue data for our company’s North, South, and East Regions.  When we built this table, we wanted the months to go across the columns, and the region to display down the rows, but now we’re feeling it the other way around.  What are our options?  Remake the entire table?  Delete and start over?  Not on my watch, my friend.

Rather than manually making any adjustments, let’s use the TRANSPOSE function.  This function flips the orientation of an array of data, which is perfect if you’re like me and like to experiment with layout!  If you’ve input information vertically that you’d like to swap to horizontal, or vice versa, all you need to do is enter = TRANSPOSE in the cell where you’d like your new data to start appearing, and select the data that you’d like to flip.  That’s it!  Hit enter and your renovation is complete!  📈
