Creating charts to visualize data in Excel sounds boring, right? But you can turn these boring charts into a fun activity with Image Bar Charts, which replace the data bars with any image you want! It’s fun and interactive!
Take a look at the GIF above. Our office was having a heated debate on whether everyone preferred Excel or GSheets (we all know the right answer), so I decided to throw the voting results into Excel and create a bar chart.
If you’re unsure how to chart one of these bad boys, just select the data and hit ALT+F1 or go to Insert > Bar Chart. To replace a bar with an image, select the image you want and pound CTRL+X to cut it. Then, select the bar you want to replace and paste the image using CTRL+V. Repeat this process for the rest of the bars if your little heart desires. Oh, and the image size automatically adjusts whenever the source data is updated! Neat!
A quick tip: If you want to change the image width, double click on one image to open the Format Series window. Once the window opens, select the Series Option icon (Chart) under Series Options and adjust the Gap width.
Now it’s easy to see who the clear winner is here.
