Say cheese 🧀

We’ve all taken a selfie, but have you ever taken an Excel selfie?  Yes, Excel has a camera tool!  And it’s perfect for getting a dynamic snap of your hot data. 🔥 Let’s take a look at an example using the table above.

Our table has sales data that updates throughout the week, and our boss asked us to add an image of this data to the dashboard tab.  We could screenshot the image, insert it into our table, and repeat, repeat, repeat every time the data changes…or we could make our lives way easier and use Excel’s camera tool to take a dynamic photo that will automatically update as our data changes!

First, we’ll need to add the camera tool to our Quick Access Toolbar:  simply right-click on the toolbar, select “Customize Quick Access Toolbar,” and choose “All Commands” from the “Choose Commands From:” dropdown.  Now, scroll down and select the Camera Tool from the commands list, click “Add,” and hit “OK” to save these changes.

Now that we’ve added the camera tool, we’re ready to snap our data’s first selfie!  Simply select the data, hit the camera tool in the quick access toolbar, and then click anywhere in the worksheet to paste the image you just captured.  Anytime the data in the table changes, our image will automatically update!
